Ingredients of SEV USAL (easy way)
- It's 2 of medium sized onions.
- Prepare 2 of small tomatoes or 1 big.
- Prepare 3-4 of garlic cloves.
- It's 2 of Green chillies.
- You need 1/2 inch of Ginger.
- Prepare 1 tsp of Mustard seed.
- You need 2 of Bay leaves.
- It's 4 tbsp of Oil.
- Prepare 1 cup of White Pre soaked and pressure cooked white dried peas.
- You need 1 tsp of Lemon juice.
- It's As needed of Besan slurry.
- Prepare As needed of Water.
- Prepare As needed of Sev as per choice spicy or plain.
- You need As needed of Finely chop onions to garnish.
- Prepare As needed of Coriander leaves and lemon wedges to garnish.
- It's As needed of Pav sauted in butter.
One can make best sev usal at home by just topping up ragda with boiled potatoes, grated carrot, chopped onions and lots of sev. Sev (fried chickpea flour sticks) - can be found in any Indian Store. SEV USAL (easy way) instructions
- First of all pressure cook soaked white peas with salt for 1 whistle and keep aside.
- Secondly prepare besan slurry by adding 2 tbsp besan and 3 tbsp water.(keep aside).
- Now lets grind the indgridients to make usal..
- Grind in smooth paste like this.
- In cooker add oil,mustard seeds,bay leaves..
- Add paste prepared and cook till oil is separated from sides on slow flame..
- Now add salt to taste, red chilli powder 1 tsp, turmeric powder 1 tsp,coriander powder 1 tsp and sev usal masala 1 tsp.(if u don't have sev usal masala add garam masala same quantity and 2 lavings at this stage).
- Stir till aroma releases then add white peas..
- Add water now..
- Let this usal boil,once it starts boiling add besan slurry..
- Cook this mixture till it thickens like curry (approx 10 mins on slow flame)And serve by adding lime juice,sev,and finely chopped onions and pav..
