Batata Vada step by step
- In a pan heat 1 tbsp oil on a low flame, add cumin seeds, coriander seeds, Asafoetida and ginger garlic paste. Mix and cook until the raw smell from ginger garlic goes away. (Takes 1 min)..
- Next add red chilli powder, garam masala and dry mango powder. Mix well and add mashed potatoes along with salt and coriander leaves. Give a good mix.Turn the flame off..
- Once the above mixture cools down to the room temperature, Make small balls and pat them flat on your palm. Keep it aside.(it makes approx 6 wadas out of 3-4 potatoes)..
- In another bowl take gram flour, add salt to taste, turmeric powder and baking soda. Mix everything and add water to make little thick flowing consistency. Keep it aside..
- Heat oil in a pan for frying on a medium flame. Once the oil is hot. Take one vada at a time (made in step 3) dip in the batter (made in step 4)..
- Slowly leave the dipped vada in the hot oil. Fry them from both sides till light golden brown by flipping them in between..
- Remove it on a tissue paper or paper towel..
