Millet laddu. Millet Laddu is a healthy sweet/snack. It is perfect for mild sweet craving also a great option for kids evening/after school snacks. Iron-rich (jaggery) laddu are good for expectant (pregnant) women.

Millet laddu Roasted foxtail millet flour is mixed with melted jaggery and made into laddus. I am happy to share my first post on millet recipes/Siruthaniya unavugal(in Tamil). As I wanted to start with a easy sweet recipe, I tried this mixed millets laddu adding jaggery (Siruthaniya ladoo in Tamil). You can have Millet laddu using 4 ingredients and 5 steps. Here is how you cook it.

Ingredients of Millet laddu

  1. You need 1 cup of foxtail Millet flour.
  2. It's as required of Desi ghee.
  3. It's As needed of Cashew,almonds, raisins,makhana,elaichi.
  4. Prepare 3 tablespoon of powdered sugar.

Thinai urundai/Foxtail Millet laddu is considered very special for Lord Murugan. So, made these laddus for Skandha Sashti. Jaggery and ghee are added to the flour and laddus are made. I tried this finger millet laddu using cane sugar, but you can very well replace it with jaggery too.

Millet laddu step by step

  1. Pre heat the khadai for 2 mins in low flame.Add 2 table spoons of desi ghee in the khadai.Add foxtail millet flour and mix it well with the ghee.
  2. Cook till the flour becomes little golden brown. As the color of the flour starts to darken switch off the flame and keep it aside for 2-3 minutes.
  3. Now add the sugar,dry fruits and elaichi powder. Mix it well with your hands with little pressure.
  4. Make a tight fist and shape it like a round ball..
  5. Delicious and nutritious Millet laddu is ready..
